Tuck into Montreal's Mac N 'Cheese Week 2017

Prepare yourself for the third annual Mac N'Cheese event, held in Montreal, Quebec and Toronto – to name just a few – from April 3 to 10, 2017. This isn’t a competition, however – no prizes will be awarded, although that doesn’t mean you won’t still have your favourites. Here are 12 of the Montreal participants that are making us salivate. This Notre-Dame-de-Grâce snack bar and creator of this anual event, which has rapidly become a staple of the Montreal restaurant scene, looks forward to welcoming you with its fried chicken and Sriracha sauce mac and cheese, served with green peas, roast cauliflower, bechamel sauce and Louis d'Or cheese.

No, Grumman isn't just a street truck – even if it is one of the most popular to roam the city. The Verdun restaurant awaits you with an utterly decadent mac and cheese dish containing order and chaos in equal measure: macaroni (moo!), poblano pepper, buttermilk, Velveeta cheese, cheddar, Monterey Jack , Mozzarella, nutmeg, smoked gouda, tomatoes, and lots and lots of love.

Here you'll be served the Mac n' Osso, whose very name is enough to make us salivate. Here we go: white wine macaroni sauce (cream, mature cheddar, Migneron, nutmeg), garlic, braised beef shank in a tomato sauce with a bone marrow emulsion, parsley gremolata and sweet herb bread crumbs, all sprinkled with Parmesan. Oh yeah!

This tavern on Mont-Royal Avenue offers the Baller, a macaroni and cheese dish served with parmesan, mozzarella and cheddar plus béchamel sauce and onions. For the topping, there's pesto Panko, a blue cheese crumble and a Parmesan chip. They also offer dumplings prepared with beef, garlic, onion, bacon, parmesan, thyme, oregano and basil.

Pub Brewskey

This pub in Old Montreal will serve you macaroni smothered in Île aux Grues cheddar sauce and a Maltshake Stout sauce, all mixed with beer-braised beef. The dish also features a BreWesky sausage crumble, a 14 Acres cheese gratin and Panko topping. Does this thing have a name? The Mac Daddy!

What else but the Lab and Cheese, of course! This involves a (bourbon) macaroni dish covered in house-smoked Île aux Grues cheddar, with Louis d'Or and Canotier des îles shavings.
