If you've ever stopped to watch a street magician in central Toronto and oowed and aahed as he presented a fellow audience member with an engagement ring, the magician was likely Phil The Magic Guy of Magic in Toronto. He’s been a key part of several marriage proposals around the city. “The most stressful thing is being entrusted with an expensive ring,” he laughs. “Once I had to pretend to be a street performer. The guy had set it all up. He and his girlfriend ambled by and they stopped to watch, then I got the lady to join in a trick, part of which was giving her the ring. It’s fabulous to see the reaction of the couple when the answer is yes – which it always is!”
