The decision to adopt is perhaps the single most important commitment a family can make. For most, it is a decision based on emotion and the desire to build a family through adoption. The Adoption Agency and Counselling Service (Ontario) is a non-profit, private, non-sectarian licensed adoption agency. We offer a range of services, including family counselling, to birth parents and adoptive parents throughout Ontario. We have been involved in facilitating adoptions since 1982. We understand that the commitment to adopt is never taken lightly. That's why we provide support and a variety of services both to birth parents considering adoption and to those hoping to adopt. We help birth parents explore the range of options available to them and we help those hoping to adopt clarify their needs and determine the type of family arrangement they would like.
For more than 125 years, CCAS has provided professional, responsive, child-centred and family-focused supports and services to children, youth and families. Mandated under the Child, Youth and Family Services Act and funded by the Government of Ontario, CCAS provides child protection services 7 days per week, 24 hours per day and is one of four child welfare agencies in Toronto. We also work with community partners throughout Toronto to support children and families.
The Adoption Council of Ontario is a not-for-profit providing outreach, support and education to all adoptees, adoptive parents, potential adoptive parents, birth families, and adoption professionals in Ontario. We deal with public adoption, private adoption, international adoption and relative adoption. Since 1987, we have been working towards a provincial community where all children have families forever. We gratefully acknowledge the support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
