John Panter was born in Toronto, and moved to Halifax in 1980. Beginning with wrestling, fencing, karate and yoga in the 60's and continuing with Taoist Tai Chi® from 1971 and on, he has almost 50 years experience with Eastern and Western martial, spiritual and health arts. Entering the Rolf Institute in 1996, he became a Certified Rolfer® in 1998, and has practiced since then. During this period he studied at Dalhousie University and was awarded a B.Sc. (Psychology) in 2005 and a B.A. (History) in 2008. He is currently pursuing research at a Master's level. John has additional training in Cranio-Sacral Therapy® from the Upledger Institute, and in Trauma Intervention from the Atlantic School of Social Work.
