Gilbert Lachapelle did a fantastic job on our oak kitchen table top.
We wanted our oak table top finished before Christmas, 2010 and contacted Gilbert Lachapelle in early December for an estimate.
The table is a pedestal base and is 42" x 81" inches, which is including the 2 leaves in it.
We only wanted the top re-finished as it was rather badly scratched and stained and we needed the new stain colour to match the existing stain on the base.
Gilbert knew that we wanted it done before Chritmas and he refinished the table-top within 5 days for a very reasonable price and he did an outstanding job.
The stain coulour is great; it's a great match and we actually like the top better than the base now.
The lacquer finish is super-smooth; I'm surprised at how smooth and perfect it looks. It's kind of a satin finsh and looks great. I think the original finish was a higher-gloss but we like the way it looks now better than the original finish.
We'd definitely use him again.

We are a close group of 5 family and friends (Robert, Corey, Matthew, Jennifer & Colleen); all avid collectors with different styles. Our interests vary completely, which helps add variety to the product you will see at our store. We've all had a passion for buying and selling for many years now, and our visions of running our own retail location is coming to fruition in our home town. "Prior Things" started up as a re-occurring massive multi-family garage sale, but we have been planning for a while now on a retail space. Come visit us at 54 Madawaska Street in Arnprior.
Friendly experienced shop owner...and ready to barter. Items are clean and well displayed. Something new every time you come to look but you seem to buy because it is one off a kind. LOVE IT ;)Read more

LinksRideau AntiquesWelcome to Rideau Antiques, now over 50 years in operation! Our business began in 1962, by Clifford Miller, the original (and present owner), as a summer sideline, between teaching years. Clifford's fascination with antiques started in 1961, after he attended a few local auctions to find some things for a new cottage. As can happen, Clifford found several items of interest that couldn't be rationalized for the cottage, and through the encouragement of a fellow teacher, the beginning of a family business was born. \
