Earls Court was established in 1973 by Bob Daniels and Doug Nixon as a print and framing gallery at 78 George Street in Hamilton's Hess Village. In 1977 the second floor gallery was opened featuring some print makers from Open Studio in Toronto (Ann Meredith Barry, Jo Manning, Moira Clarke) and other local artists. In 1980 we moved to 105 George Street where we continued with print makers (David Blackwood for several years) and expanded into more local artists and different mediums. We continued at this location for the next 29 years until September 2009 when we moved into the current and much larger location at 215 Ottawa Street North in Hamilton. This newest location has a 1600 sq. ft. gallery and a 1000 sq. ft. framing facility. We will continue to have exhibitions of local artists and some historical works.
We are well known for our expertise in custom framing original art, limited editions and decorator prints. Only the best quality materials using state of the art framing techniques go into our work so your treasured art pieces will last a lifetime.Stretching of needle work and framing unusual items is also a specialty. A complete range of services for plak-mounting and laminating is also available. Original and ltd. edition works from many famous artists are also available.
As an adjunct to fine art, The Gallery offers archival custom framing for which we’ve won national competitions. We also offer a conservation service that includes cleaning and restoring oil and watercolour paintings, restoration of sculptures and paper substrates. Our experienced staff have won national awards for custom framing.
We offer a wide variety of styles and creative applications for artwork, cross-stitch, memorabilia or anything else you may wish to conserve. All framing is done to Library of Congress conservation standards and include conservation glass.
