The Surrounding Area Is Inexpensive To Travel Within And There Are Many Unique Communities Who Will Welcome Travellers With Open Arms.

This painting was commissioned by St. John's Presbyterian Church to honour the life of Mary Pratley. Her initials appear in the painting in the lower right and are illuminated with images of her family and life.I intended the painting to be a reflection of the life of the people that come to be here together. As part of my research, I asked the members of the congregation what they might choose to represent themselves; things that are important to them, what they do for a living, etc. I received a wide range of ideas and thoughts. The tree has several references to the Celtic Knot appropriate to the Scottish heritage of the Presbyterian Church. One appears in the centre at the bottom but also the roots themselves create a Celtic knot that moves up the trunk and transforms itself into the crown of the tree. It is in this framework of Celtic knots that I placed the images of St.John's history including some values and some of the activities of the congregation that creates a communal and spiritual foundation

We have been in the neighborhood for over 23 years and thought it was the perfect time to bring our flavors of fine fare to this neck of the woods. Records indicate that the rear portion of The Livery was erected during the 1840's as a harness shop by Samuel Seegmuller, trader in hides and whiskey along the Huron Trail between Guelph and Goderich. By 1878 A. M. Polley had added two sections, also in Maitland River stone, to the front of the early shop to accommodate his livery stable business. After the turn of the century, when horses gave way to automobiles, the building became the first local car dealership. In 1974 it was transformed into a building centre.

The North beach at the end of Main Street in Grand Bend is full of young sun worshippers all dressed in their finest bathing suits recently purchased in one of many stores on Main Street. South beach is full of families and more mature sun bathers enjoying watching the children and grand children run in and out of the water. Both beaches are full of locals who have wandered down from their cottages and homes for a day of relaxation and fun.
