Center for research, production and distribution in contemporary visual arts, Caravanserai is dedicated to supporting and promoting young and emerging practices. Located in Rimouski since May 2003, the center uses diverse regional to stimulate the creation of projects and developing a multidisciplinary approach that is rooted in the community. Its action, centered on the artist, experimentation and creation, favors crosses between research fields and public. Caravanserai is also for the artistic community of the Lower St. Lawrence by initiating projects it is intended.The annual program of the center includes an average of six indoor exhibitions and hosting artists in residence for research / production. The center uses a call for records annually and by invitation, on some occasions, especially in light of special projects. Because few mechanisms exist to specifically support emerging artists in visual arts since the center offers extraordinary collaborations with various local organizations, Caravanserai has been identified as a unique art gallery in Quebec.
