" If you are still breathing then there is more right with you than wrong." - John Kabat Zinn. Helping clients connect to their strengths and to then leverage these traits in service of personal goals of health and happiness briefly describes my orientation to counselling work. My professional training and experience in both business and healthcare, and my personal life path have informed a broad understanding of the challenges faced in living and how to best engage these challenges successfully.
I am an accredited service provider to Employee Assistance Plan managers, Veterans Affairs Canada, and Indigenous Services Canada and also have extensive experience in supporting persons involved with the Justice system of Parole and Probation. Areas of clinical specialization include marital conflict, substance misuse, anger management, and trauma.
As a family systems therapist, my passion is to walk with people on their journey towards a life that is rich and meaningful. While we can't change painful experiences from the past, we can work together towards better understanding and resolution of them in the present. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will explore and challenge long-standing behavior patterns and/or negative perceptions which may be standing in the way of a fuller, healthier, and happier life.
