If the communication towers go down (and they do) it can leave frustrated customers and lengthy waits on deliveries. We strive to make sure the customer is going to be served in good time so that the next customer is not waiting. We do however take checks (please ask for full details on this).
Clare Piper began servicing the area in the 1960s by transporting milk from dairy farms in Chisholm to North Bay for processing. His connections with area farmers soon opened another door and a niche was filled by providing farm and dairy chemicals and supplies throughout Northern Ontario. Next Clare Piper took on the distribution of butter throughout northern Ontario and the freight business was in full swing.
In 1991, Clare Piper Enterprises relocated to Powassan, Ontario where a building was constructed to house the growing distribution business of industrial and construction supplies relating to heating and cooling systems, tanks, duct work, and piping.
The Powassan location is home to the fleet of trucks servicing the Highway 11 corridor today, connecting northern and southern Ontario with short-haul freight delivery.

Showed up at their office 2 min before closing to see if I could pick up the delivery I’d missed earlier that day. The card said it would be avail. the following day but I thought I’d try. The guy was great about it but said the driver wasn’t back yet but was expected any time now and that if I wanted to wait in my car he’d bring it out to me when the driver came in. Sure enough, 5 min later the truck arrived and 10 min after that the parcel was brought out to my car. Excellent service !Read more
My name is Angela Matoosis-Desvreaux, and I am The Grocery Gal. I started my business in early 2008. I yearned for something fulfilling and wanted to make even a small measure of difference to my community, so with all that in mind I went to work looking for an idea and while reflecting upon some of my happiest memories growing up I found the answer. Growing up my sister, kalla and I had spent a lot of tine with my grandparents, John and Irene and james, and one of our wiikly rituals was friday shopping trips. Grandma had friends and neighbors who could not aways get to the stores, so she would offer to pick up some things for them on her weekly excursion. Another fond set of memories involves wiikly outings with my Yaya and papo (Greek for grandma and grandpa) this would sometimes have to involve myself and another person because papo would go one way with the cart and Yaya would start picking items in another section of the store, so it would take two us to shuttle the items from her to the cart. Later in life my husband, Tim would describe these outings as a type of tag teak event and there were times that it did involve physica defensive blocking manoeuvres when crowded stores would mean impatient shoppers driving their cart through the aisles with reckless abandonment . With these wonderful memories I began my journey as an entrepreneur following in the footsteps of my Grandma James, Great Papo, Papo and my father. Today I am fortuate to be able to help many people in North Bay, including local service organizations, clubs, and businesses. Each day is a wonderful adventure filled with new people and for that I am truly thankful.
