CCVT is proud to present its annual conference in honor of June 26th, the United Nations International Day in Support of Survivors of Torture, 'Religion, Peace, and Violence: A Multifaith Dialogue on Liberation and Justice'. A panel of scholars, religious leaders, and activists representing the perspectives of their faith traditions, will discuss the role of religion in advancing peace, compassion, and solidarity with the oppressed. The dialogue will interpret and explore the potential of religion as a force for liberation and justice, as part of the humanitarian project in which we are all engaged.
At Nana’s Help, we are your neighbours - an honest, hard-working family with years of experience in Georgetown. We own a house and we know how much work is involved in maintaining a home. Therefore we created a home maintenance package to help you have extra time with your family or for yourself instead of having to do SO MANY CHORES. Call Nana or Peter 24 hours a day to find out how we can help! One call does it all!
The Assaulted Women's Helpline provides a 24-hour crisis line for women. It allows women to reach out for help, assured of their anonymity and confidentiality. A telephone counsellor provides immediate crisis counselling, safety planning, as well as referrals to local agencies and support for the ongoing struggle to name and act against abuse. Counsellors never meet clients face to face as this is a telephone service only. Counsellors use a supportive approach that encourages women to look at their needs, and make their own informed decisions.
