The Slocan Valley Seniors Housing Society was formed in 1995 and incorporated in 1997 to develop affordable seniors housing and related services. With tremendous support from the community and a committed group of volunteers the Society built and since 1999 has maintained the very successful 10 unit Passmore Lodge in Passmore, B.C. Community Groups use the Lodge for literacy art and intergenerational programs and for seniors fitness classes. It has maintained charitable status with Revenue Canada since incorporation.

The association of Sinixt human-beings known as the Sinixt Nation have continuously lived, occupied and used our unceded traditional territory (Sinixt territory*) for at least the last 3000 years to the present in the area contemporarily called the 'Columbia River Basin in British Columbia, Canada' as is verified by the work of archaeological and ethnographical professionals, local historical professionals, and through the oral stories of Sinixt human beings continuing to live on or near traditional Sinixt territory.
