Macdonald, Canada's first prime minister. Named after the family's ancestral home in Scotland, Dalnavert is one of Western Canada's finest examples of Queen Anne Revival Architecture and has been designated a National and Provincial Historic Site. Designed to embody Victorian values, Dalnavert also incorporated the cutting-edge technology of 1895, including central heat, indoor plumbing, a telephone and electric lights. Continuing that theme, the new 5,000 square foot Visitors' Centre is a "green building" utilizing features such as geothermal heat, recycled/reclaimed materials and straw board construction.
EUTC is a Winnipeg-based service organization in operation since 2005. We are mandated by the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs to serve as a social service organization addressing transitional issues of First Nation citizens. Centrally located in Winnipeg's downtown, the EUTC assists more that 1700 individuals and families in the areas of housing, addictions, referrals, counseling, advocacy and other enhanced services. The influx of clients and the broad array of transitional issues indicate the growing demand and need for culturally relevant services by and for First Nation citizens.The EUTC serves as a hub of information and central location for clients seeking transitional support while living in and/or relocating to Winnipeg. The EUTC maintains an up-to-date inventory of resources, programs and services available to assist First Nation clients with day-to-day issues including housing, social assistance, addictions, resources for youth and services/programs in the areas of training/employment and education.
