Mia Kinal updated the executive 2 months ago. Clifton StudiosClifton Studios is an artists co-operative at 587 Clifton Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It has been a working art center for almost 40 years, and many local artists got their start here.Ever since the building at 587 Clifton Street was first built in 1917, this character building has housed an interesting variety of craftspeople. Its first tenants made covers for horse-drawn buggies, and after that, tops for Model T's. In the 1970s it became ''Symposium Studios'', and drawing, painting, sculpting, pottery and art history classes were taught there. In the 1980s, it became ''Prairie Clay Company''. Prairie Clay continued to offer pottery classes, but also supplied clay and rented studio space. In 1986, the pottery students of Prairie Clay Company decided to form a co-operative, and 587 Clifton Street became ''Clifton Studios''. Now, over 20 artists and craftspeople have individual studio spaces in this 4,044 square foot second floor warehouse.

During early 1960s very few Hindu families had settled in Manitoba, who were living mostly in Winnipeg. The early settlers were mostly Professionals, as Teachers, Professors, Physicians and others. A few more families trickled here during early 1970s. There was no common place of worship or congregation. In 1970, a few families floated the idea of incorporating The Manitoba Hindu Society as a religious and charitable organization and Society was registered on December 9th. 1970. The Society started holding an annual Diwali Celebration at St. Mary's Road United Church. The activities of the society became extended to observing major Hindu Festivals. In addition to the Diwali, Maha shivratri, Ram Navami and Krishna Janmashtmi got celebrated at one Hall or another, and Sunday prayer meetings were added. These Sunday meetings became popular and used to be held at random at the homes of the devotees and then regularly at the International Centre.

Photo Central has been serving Winnipeg's photographers since 1975, when Dick Toews took over management of what was then Independent Photo Centre. In 1991 the name was changed to Photo Central Inc when Dick took over full ownership. Photo Central continued to grow and adapt over the years, and has seen the introduction and explosion of digital products and the rapid change it has made in the industry in the last decade. Photo Central was purchased by Dick's son, Andrew, in the spring of 2008. Andrew has since made the necessary changes to ensure that Photo Central is equipped to function and flourish in a rapidly changing marketplace without sacrificing who we are or what we think a business should be. What has always set Photo Central apart from its competition is its commitment to service and customer satisfaction. These terms are often bandied about in today's marketing repertoire, but at Photo Central we do everything we can to ensure you have a great experience, both in our store and with your equipment after your purchase.
