ObituariesIn the spring of 1948 Joseph Lemieux purchased the Ponteix Trading Company from Robert Forret and opened Lemieux Funeral Home and Lemieux Hardware Store which remained at the Main Street location. In the 1950's Joseph's sons Ernie and Roland (Dick) came to join their father in the family business. A decade later the Lemieux family made the decision to separate the two businesses and build a new funeral home that is still located at its present location of 125 1st Street West. After Joseph's passing in 1981 Ernie and Roland (Dick) separated the two businesses and Ernie stayed and continued to operate the funeral home. In 1994 Ernie's oldest daughter Jackie Schlageter became the familys third generation to join the funeral business.Lemieux Funeral Home has served its community and surrounding area faithfully for 61 years and remains a steadfast part of Ponteix. The Lemieux family strives to build upon their strengths that provide professional caring service with the desire to extend that philosophy into the future for the next generation of funeral service providers.Following a death, there are many arrangements that are supervised by a Licensed Funeral Director.
