Dumoine Valley Guides is located on the shores of the spectacular Ottawa river which surrounds the island and municipality of Rapides des Joachims (Swisha). The island is situated on the western border of Pontiac county in the Outaouais region. The lodge has been in operation since 1987 and offers fun filled outdoor activities like; canoeing on lakes and white-water rivers, snowmobiling and all-terrain vehicles (ATV), hiking, cross country skiing and snowshoe trails, bird watching and wildlife observation. All that in a pristine environment that will take your breath away. You will have the privilege to be surrounded by the most diverse deciduous forest in Québec where you will encounter the mighty White Pine as well as the Dumoine river which is considered to be the last wild river in southern Québec. Girl Guides of Canada-Guides du Canada, Ontario Council Archives collects and preserves records and artifacts that document the history of Guiding in Ontario from its beginnings to the present. These materials include minutes, annual reports, photographs, correspondence, log books, scrapbooks, uniforms, oral histories, insignia, and more. These records are donated by members or transferred from staff, then described and made accessible as resources to explore and learn about the Guiding movement and its impact on communities throughout Ontario.
