Bertschi Construction is an owner operator company based out of Lac La Biche Alberta and has been in business since 2004. They specialize in erosion control, implementation of BMP's and development of erosion and sediment control plans. The owner, Al Bertschi holds a Masters Degree in Environmental Sciences and is a registered Professional Agrologist (P.Ag) with Alberta Insititue of Agrology (AIA). He is currently the coordinator of the Natural Resources Technology program at Portage College in Lac La Biche, specializing in soil conservation and reclaimation courses.

The process begins by mixing mulch, seed, fertilizer, and water in the tank of a hydro-mulching machine. The mixed material is then pumped from the tank and sprayed onto the ground. Once applied to the soil, the material enhances initial growth by providing a micro-environment which is beneficial to seed germination.
