Today it operates two emergency shelters, an addiction treatment program, a thrift store/outreach program and Community Mental Health programs for consumers/survivors of the mental health system. Many men and women tell how their lives have been changed significantly as a result of the love, care and respect they received from our agency during difficult periods of their lives. Unger's Market was founded by the Unger family in 1984! Our first location was the Old Country Market on Little Simcoe Street and also a fruit stand on Dundas Street. In 1987, we relocated to join several other family owned businesses in Hyde Park and through the years we have remained at the heart of the ever growing Hyde Park community. We were originally called Unger's Farm Market, reflecting the farming background of the family, but once the farm was sold, a new look and name were created. Unger's Market was modernized, yet we still offer the same great service, local products and in store baked goods.
