Since 1979, Ksan House Society has providing social service programs to people in the Terrace area. We specialize in providing emergency care for men, women and children who are seeking shelter from a violent home or are otherwise disadvantaged. Kitimat Community Services Society's Board of Directors governs the Agency by making policy for long term direction and determines the scope of the work we do. The Board employs a senior staff person, the Executive Director, to implement its policies and to manage the day-to-day business of the organization. The ED is accountable to the Board. Front-line staff and service volunteers are accountable to the ED and will implement the activities as described. The ED conducts staff performance appraisals and its finances. At our yearly Annual General Meeting, the bylaws and constitution are reviewed by the membership and changes are recommended and voted upon. The Board sanctions our yearly financial review and financial statements are reviewed at our AGM by our membership.
The Centre is a registered non-profit society established in 1974 by a dedicated group of concerned parents and community members. Annually we help over 300 young children and their families through a variety of programs. Centre programs adhere to Family Centered Early Intervention Principles. The Terrace Child Development Centre is dedicated to helping children with special needs to reach their potential through therapy, education and family support. The Centre assists families in the raising of healthy children by offering prenatal counseling, parent resources and support to families and caregivers.
