Our Forensic Housing and Outreach Program received the BC Mental Health and Addiction Services Award of Excellence. In May 2012, the Guthrie Therapeutic Community program was the recipient of the Premier's Award for Innovation.

The mission of The Salvation Army, as an international movement is an evangelical branch of the Christian Church. It's message is based on the Bible; it's ministry is motivated by love for God and a practical concern for the needs of humanity. It's mission is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, supply basic human needs, provide personal counseling and undertake the spiritual and moral regeneration and physical rehabilitation of all persons in need who come within it's sphere of influence regardless of race, color, creed, gender, sexual orientation, or age. In Nanaimo,our Non Profit Thrift Stores are a pivotal part of our fundraising efforts in that the monies raised in our stores help provide the many resources that enable us to offer food, shelter, clothing and much more to the less fortunate of our city. For example our New Hope Kitchen at 19 Nichol Street served over 90,000 hot meals to the hungry in 2016.
