We are proud to serve students of all ages, teaching all types of music from classical, pop, rock and jazz to celtic, country, country and bluegrass. While most of our students are on the younger side, we have a large number of adult students who study music to enrich their lives.
We are a dedicated group of teachers who love to share our passion for music. We also love to make music FUN!
The Nanaimo Conservatory of Music was founded in 1977. Now operating from its new facility at 375 Selby Street the Conservatory will continue to provide high quality musical instruction to children and adults from Central Vancouver Island.The Conservatory prepares students for all levels of the Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto) and Western Board exams. Students are encouraged to participate in the annual Upper Island Music Festival and to perform in Conservatory recitals. Whatever your skill level, the Conservatory has something to offer.All of our instructors are highly qualified and dedicated. Many of our music teachers are members of the Vancouver Island Symphony Orchestra.
Sue Wood has been active in music for over 30 years as a piano teacher and an accompanist. She enjoys working with students and musicians of all ages and abilities. She is involved in the local music community serving on the executives of the Mid-Island Chapter of the BCRMTA and the Upper Island Music Festival. She founded Dreamtree Studios, originally an art gallery and music studio on Main Street in Vancouver, in 1994. As a member of the piano faculty at the Richmond Arts Centre, she maintains a connection with the lower mainland. In 2016, she completed the addition of a music studio to her home in the Brechin Hill neighbourhood of Central Nanaimo. She welcomes new and transfer students, as well as, music collaborators to Dreamtree Studios Nanaimo.
I have 22 years of experience in teaching piano and theory. No two students are the same so I try base my choice of method to the student. From private groups to online sessions I can't wait to help you take your musical inspiration to the next level. I look forward to hearing from you!
Tempo Trend Music, a family-run local business, has served Victoria for more than 50 years. Since 1990, Peter Grealey has been teaching the drums, piano/ keyboard, guitar and bass at his home studio at the corner of Head and Wollaston street.
Conveniently located with lots of free parking, the E.M.C. is easily recognized by its unique piano fence and a large red music note on the side.
Peter first started teaching music at the age of 18 in Sudbury Ontario where he was raised. It was here that he studied piano at Cambrian College and later Laurentian University.
As well as teaching, Peter has been a professional musician for many years and has led his own rock, country, jazz and variety dance bands. Peter also performed as principal percussion in the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra for four years.
At the E.M.C. the first lesson is free.
There is no P.S.T. or G.S.T. on music lessons.
Groove Studios is Victoria's source for drum lessons. Our students can get a taste of different styles like rock, blues, swing, funk, Latin and everything in between. Students learn drumming techniques by using owner, Murray Creed's, Groove Evolution curriculum. Our students have been making waves all over the Canadian music scene so call today to learn how you can too.
The Victoria branch is one of many branches of the BC Registered Music Teachers' Association. The BCRMTA is a provincially recognized, not for profit, association of qualified professional teachers. All member teachers must hold a teaching degree from a recognized school, or a performance degree and several years of teaching experience. The association is part of the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers.
