HGR Graham Partners LLP was formed on January 1, 2012 by the merger of two law firms with long and distinguished histories in Central Ontario, Hacker Gignac Rice LLP and Graham Partners LLP. The Law Firm of Hacker Gignac Rice ('HGR') was formed in January 1981 with the three founding partners coming from three historic Midland law firms. Fred Hacker, Q.C., a fourth generation Midland resident, formerly practiced law in partnership with Douglas G. Haig Q.C. John Gignac, with deep roots in the Penetanguishene area, was a partner in Teskey, Heacock, Ferguson and Gignac firm. Greg Rice was a partner of John Gammell. The firm expanded into Orillia in 2000 when R. Bruce Waite Q.C. merged his practice with HGR. A further expansion occurred in 2011 when Lysanne Cholette merged her Wasaga Beach practice with HGR and became a partner.
