CDSCL is a registered non-profit charitable organization that provides support and services for individuals with disabilities in the Creston Valley under four programs, with an emphasis on community inclusion. CDSCL has received full accreditation for three consecutive three-year cycles as a community social service provider under CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) for its programs and services. CDSCL also operates a Therapeutic Riding Program and low-income housing for seniors.

The Legion was founded in November of that year in Winnipeg, Manitoba as The Canadian Legion of the British Empire Services League (BESL). It was incorporated by special Act of Parliament, Charter issued in July 1926.
