The Powell River Therapeutic Riding Association is a secure organization that works collaboratively within the community to provide unique, accessible therapy to people with disabilities in Powell River.mission statementThe Powell River Therapeutic Riding Association will continue to provide therapy with horses, while focussing on increased sustainability and engagement of our community.Desi has been adopted for 2013!Our Desi has been adopted for 2013, in loving memory of Elma Susan Buhler, a teacher, originally from Norway. She recognized the value of learning and teaching, especially to children. Her family thought that adopting our Desi, a Norwegian Fjord, a teacher in his own right, would be a great way to honour Elma's memory. Our horses mean the world to us, they are kind, gentle teachers to our riders. We are so thankful for the generosity of Elma's family and can rest easy knowing Desi will be taken care of through their kind gesture. We are very grateful. The Powell River Therapeutic Riding Associationfeature riderMy name is Darlene, I am 58 years old and have Cerebral Palsy.

I took my two kids here as they both wanted lessons. Neither had ridden before but Janet the owner and teacher is excellent with kids. She has so much patience with them and is gentle but also gives them the direction they need. Three months later we are regulars and the girls have improved dramatically. I have also taken lessons with a couple of friends and we love it. The barn is not super glamorous but who cares - it is a friendly, family oriented riding stables where safety and friendliness comes first. Love it!Read more
