Dr. James Ji grew up in the Aldergrove area. Now a dentist at Aldergrove Village Dental, Dr. Ji began his university education in a completely different direction from dentistry. He enrolled in Engineering Physics, a five year engineering program from UBC. After three years at UBC, he worked for National Research Council Canada for a short period of time. He then moved to Toronto to continue pursuing his study in Material Science and Engineering at University of Toronto. It was there that Dr. Ji found a great interest in biomaterial, particularly dental material. At this time Dr. Ji decided to enter dentistry to pursuit his interests further. He attended the University of Western Ontario where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, graduating in 1998. It was in university that he met his wife of 17 years.
