Last year, VPL had more than 6.9 million visits with patrons borrowing nearly 9.5 million items including: books, ebooks, CDs, DVDs and magazines. Across 22 locations and online, VPL serves nearly 428,000 active members and is the third-largest public library system in Canada. Vancouver Public Library offers a wide range of events, including author readings, civic dialogue, computer training, and storytimes for babies, toddlers, and young children.

The Dirty Apron Cooking School is Vancouver's favourite culinary playground, a place for amateur cooks, the curious and professionals alike to learn, explore, and unleash their inner chef. Born out of a passion for great food the school is owned by former Chambar Sous-Chef David Robertson and his wife Sara. David has a formidable background in classic French cuisines and teaches the majority of the classes, with guest and celebrity chef appearances peppered throughout the year.

In addition to the 'weeklies', Red Room hosts numerous special events, such as Halloween, X-mas, or New Years Eve parties.
