He purchased the optometry practice from his great-uncle, Dr. Philip Thomas, who had established it in 1935. Over the years, Dr. Cox's practice continued to expand, requiring the addition of Dr. Tracy Stager in 1996 and Dr. Dina Witko in 2008 to help with the growing number of patients.
