Beth Tikvah is a vibrant, growing congregation in Richmond, the second largest area of Jewish population in BC, just south of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The City of Richmond was an official Venue City for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
Whatever the founders may have dreamed might happen, that night they showed courage, dedication and belief in themselves, their community and their Jewish life to commit to forming a new congregation. And as Beth Israel has grown and changed over the many years it still relies upon its members and leaders to have the courage of their convictions to take the steps to ensure that Beth Israel continues to grow and adapt to changing circumstances and environments so that it will continue to be an important and relevant institution in the life of the Jewish community.
The Schara Tzedeck Synagogue is the oldest and largest Orthodox Synagogue in Vancouver.when it was known by the name of Benei Yehuda. Or Shalom is a synagogue affiliated with Aleph, the umbrella organization of Jewish Renewal communities. While every Jewish Renewal Community is unique, we have the common values of a willingness to explore and experiment with our traditions in an effort to draw closer to God and the Jewish soul. Or Shalom is egalitarian: Both men and women have equal access to the leadership of services and community positions.
