The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America is a major North American building trades union that trains, educates, and represents over half a million skilled construction professionals to ensure safe and productive work in the industry.
Unifor brings a modern approach to unionism: adopting new tools, involving and engaging our members, and always looking for new ways to develop the role and approach of our union to meet the demands of the 21st century.
The Construction and Apprenticeship training facilities at Vaughan and Cobourg prepare trainees and members of Local 183 on the latest equipment, technology and techniques found in the industry. This hands-on experience is meant to simulate a true construction sector setting to ensure that contractors receive workers who are competent and productive. Health and Safety training is provided at both these campuses as well as at our Toronto location at Keele and Wilson. A third construction and apprenticeship training facility in Barrie is currently being developed in order to service the needs of contractors, labourers and trainees in Simcoe County.
