North End Housing Project Inc. (NEHP) grew out of community meetings involving local organizations and citizens in response to the pressing need for decent housing and neighborhood renewal in the deteriorating North End of Winnipeg. NEHP is a registered charitable non-profit organization committed to the provision of affordable housing. NEHP's central mission is restoring neighborhood housing, and the focus is on social development in the neighborhoods in which we work. Strengthening and reinforcing the community and the local economy are integral components the NEHP.

House of the Risen Son Ministry started as more of a para church style ministry in 1993. It was started to disciple the community that was being reached by Bondslave Motorcycle Club, ( www.bondslavemc.com )Over the years it has grown and operated in different methods to accomplish this. Many of those who attend are bikers or at least of that culture but we continue to attract many who are not. Many are those who seek Jesus in a manner that is relevant to where they are at and do not want to feel that they are imposed upon. They want Jesus who is 'real' from people who are 'real'.The worship services to accommodate this biker type sub culture are held every Sunday at 7 pm in Zion Apostolic Church located at 305 Machray Ave. Winnipeg. Since 1999 Zion has rented space to us for many of the things we do.Every Sunday we have visitors. Every Sunday through the riding season the parking lot looks like a bike show. Since 1994, LITE has supported jobs in Winnipeg's inner city. As a Public Foundation, we raise money from generous Winnipeggers and spend it in ways that promote jobs and long-term development in the community.Why? Take a walk through many of our inner city neighbourhoods and you'll see a mix of situations. Bright and tidy efforts at community renewal and sturdy, long-time businesses exist side by side with some pretty big problems. You'll see empty buildings, vandalism, homelessness and racism to name a few. Tragically, there is a legacy of social decline in the inner city. It's evident to the casual observer as well as in income and employment statistics, which show growing numbers of people living in poverty and depending on social assistance.

Taras Shevchenko: 200th Celebration Through ArtIn 2014, as recognition and celebration of 200 years since Shevchenko's birth, MPUE engaged 5 Artists to lead an art project that would span all grade levels throughout the 12 English Ukrainian Bilingual Program (EUBP) schools in Manitoba. Students worked under the guidance of the commissioned artists to collaborate and create a child's interpretation of Taras Shevchenko's significant contributions to Ukrainian cultural identity. The children were asked to base their images on the 3 different themes: Kindergarten to Grade 2/3 - Taras Shevchenko's Birthplace Grade 3 to 5/6 - An Illustration Based on Taras Shevchenko's Writings Grade 6 to 8/9 - What Taras Shevchenko Stood ForThe artist worked with the individual schools, students and teachers and expressed the work in the fabric based medium of their choice.
