The Down Syndrome Association of Peterborough is a non-profit charitable organization that supports families and persons with Down syndrome. We are the only organization in Peterborough, and Northumberland Counties as well as The City of Kawartha Lakes to do this. Our mission is to support each other to normalize and enrich the lives of people with Down syndrome to ensure that they reach their fullest potential and live a meaningful life. Our objectives are to assure parents that there are families in similar circumstances who can provide support, to promote awareness for people with Down syndrome on the part of educators, medical professionals and the community, to provide encouragement and support for people with Down syndrome so they will participate in all aspects of community life, and to advocate for acceptance and opportunities for persons with Down syndrome in the community.
