We have been at our current location since the 1971 racing season. The track was originally constructed for the fun and enjoyment of racers and spectators. The first three years of racing were run, if and when, cars were available and if the weather cooperated. the track was a very rough one quarter mile oval, with no banking, no guard rails and very little spectator seating.In 1974, the track was upgraded. It was widened by 40 feet and graded regularly. Clay was trucked in and a water truck was acquired to subdue the dust. In 1978, the club embarked on a very ambitious project - to pave the track to a super elevated one quarter mile oval track, 55 feet wide with a depressed pit area in the center. In 1988, a Lottery grant helped to erect new bleachers and a concession stand.We are wheelchair accessible, have seating for 1000 in grandstand and exrtreme seating areas.

Step back to an era of simpler times in this Provincially Registered Historical Home originally built in 1878 by Thomas H. Pope. Six years later he sold his home to the local Methodist church for use as its parsonage. Lucy Maud Montgomery was only 19 when she came here in 1894-95, to board with the Reverend John F. and Mrs. Ada Estey, while in her first teaching position at Bideford No. 6 School.

The Garden of the Gulf Museum in Montague is home to many treasures. The building is one of the most impressive buildings on PEI, a brick and sandstone Post Office and Customs House completed in 1888.In 1884, the federal government realized a more formal building was needed in Montague. Ottawa's Dominion architect, Thomas Fuller (1823-1898) designed this truly elegant building. During his tenure as chief architect, Fuller saw 74 new post offices constructed across Canada. Montague, Summerside and Charlottetown had new post offices built in the 1880s.Charlottetown architects William Critchlow Harris and David Stirling were the overseers for construction and L.A. Wilmot of New Brunswick was the contractor. The first floor housed the Post Office, the second floor had the Customs House, and the third floor was an apartment for the caretaker.The land was acquired from the estate of Martin Lambert and sandstone was quarried from the banks of the Montague River for the foundation and trim work.
