ardith one was established in 1971 by Bev (Ardith) and Bill Don with the prime objective of offering quality, functional pottery at affordable prices. Bill (former accountant) and Bev (former bank employee) both felt the entrepreneurial pull to do something different back in 1970 when they first met. The result was ardith one, Canadian Pottery & Crafts . We have represented hundreds of potters over our 45 years of business and it has been a very satisfying experience.
Bowring was started by Benjamin Bowring, an English watch and clock maker, who in 1811 came to St. John's, Newfoundland and set up shop. His wife also opened a general dry goods shop. This shop later evolved into a thriving general department store and the clock-making was eventually phased out.
