The West End Cultural Centre (WECC) was established in 1987 when the founders and a team of committed volunteers set out to renovate an old church into a community arts facility. The community employs a fulltime Public Works Employee, a fulltime Community Administrative Officer, a certified parttime Water Operator, a Community Constable, a parttime Recreation Director, and a Rink Operator. Volunteer Fire DepartmentWaterhen has its own volunteer Fire Department. Approximately 20 volunteer Fire Fighters are with the department, who do ongoing training twice monthly under the direction of Fire Chief John Mark Taylor.Waterhen currently owns 1 fire truck, and 1 rescue and water tanker truck.
