Created in 1981, the Québec Native Paralegal Services is a non-profit, apolitical organization that was established following negotiations between the various Aboriginal Nations and the Department of Justice agency. This organization is comprised of ten nations and provincial associations who sit on its board.

The draft Recovery Juvénat was initiated by the Corporation House of Soul in collaboration with the Marist Brothers. First, the grouping of lay looking for a building to achieve a community-based project and secondly, the Marist Brothers wanted to ensure the sustainability of the social mission of Juvénat. The two bodies then decided to join forces to shape a joint project by creating the New Life Charitable Corporation.
