In 1978 Wes's Backhoe Service started out with a Rubber Tired Backhoe and a Tandem Gravel Truck installing field systems, gas lines, gravel hauling and general excavation. Shawne Excavating was incorporated in September 1980 when Wes’ two brothers, Allan and Lewis became partners. The two brothers went on to other sectors of the construction industry, both starting their own companies. Wes' son, Evan, stared working for the company full time in 2006 and his daughter, Jill started full time in 2008.
