During this time, over 50,000 people have benefited from the help they have received at Cornerstone. Fundamental to our work are the principles of compassion and generosity, and a steadfast belief in people's ability to transform their lives. Founded in 1977, a small group of committed individuals named as the Cornerstone Counselling Society of Edmonton formed a faith based, not-for-profit agency. Their goals were to provide professional counselling services to anyone in need, regardless of their ability to pay. In July 1993 I was appointed to be a Province of Manitoba Marriage Commissioner. Since that time I have officiated at more than 1,600 weddings. Becoming a marriage commissioner was a perfect fit for me. In January 2014, I became a certified funeral celebrant would be another perfect fit for me. I retired from my government career with Manitoba Health in January 2015. This has given me more time to focus on my true calling — performing wedding ceremonies and officiating at funerals and celebrations of life. I am caring, friendly, open and a great listener. My friends and colleagues have praised my warm sense of humour, calm demeanour, thoughtfulness, and patience. And I really love what I do. I hope to share with you my experience, compassion and professionalism as a Marriage Commissioner or Funeral Celebrant.
