Iyengar, of Pune, India, who developed, refined and shared this methodology. It uses a precise, systematic approach whereby students learn a series of yoga postures in a well- planned order, and synchronize these postures with their breathing. These yoga postures help to exercise, strengthen, balance and cleanse every system of the body: musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, immune, digestive, nervous and respiratory. Students concentrate intently, drawing their attention inward. This concentration quiets and integrates their minds and bodies.
