A Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) has completed an accredited massage therapy program (at least 2400 hours). All graduates from RMT programs must pass the registration examinations offered by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. RMT's are governed by the Regulated Health Professions Act and the Massage Therapy Act. SWEDISH MASSAGE In Ontario, all RMT's are trained in Swedish massage. Swedish massage is designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation and manipulating soft tissue. The massage therapist works directly on the skin using a combination of techniques with the application of oil. Some benefits of Swedish massage include relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions, and improved circulation, which may speed healing and reduce swelling from injury.
