The brush had even more paint on it the next day, because it was apparent how useless I was. My boss was an expert in the trade, and an expert in giving a frantic verbal whip-lashing training technique. He was the best, and oh how I loved him!The technique was quickly improving, and I was becoming very neat, and clean at the projects. Some of the homes were so beautiful, and there was an extreme caution to be 100% professional in conduct, and in proper trained principles. The last thing I wanted was to buy a rug with my paint on it, worth more than my truck.

In the 1970s it became ''Symposium Studios'', and drawing, painting, sculpting, pottery and art history classes were taught there. In the 1980s, it became ''Prairie Clay Company''. Prairie Clay continued to offer pottery classes, but also supplied clay and rented studio space.In 1986, the pottery students of Prairie Clay Company decided to form a co-operative, and 587 Clifton Street became ''Clifton Studios''. UsJ.J. Fedorowicz Publishing went into business in 1983 as Military Book Distributor, selling other companies' books through the mail. Many of those books were in German, and so during the next few years a number of individuals commented on how it would be nice to see them in English. I investigated the costs and possibilities, and the first book was printed; 400 copies of a 40-page biography on Paul Hausser (how many of you own that one?). This was followed by European Volunteers, the first hard cover and first translation. And here we are now, almost 100 books later, and many more to go.From the first day, the company's objective was to provide translations of the very best German-language books covering the German ground forces in WW II and to publish them in a format that would last many years (hard cover, on acid-free paper, with laminated covers). It appears that we have been fairly successful.Started as a one-man operation by John Fedorowicz, the company grew steadily until more help was needed.
