The City of Winnipeg Museums BoardThe role of the City of Winnipeg Museums Board is to implement the City's Heritage Preservation Policy to ensure the ongoing preservation of Winnipeg's museums resources and assets, and to audit the ongoing operations of the museums that receive grant funds and in-kind services from the City.This Board came into effect in 2007, after a May 17, 2006 Council Decision , and the ongoing budgeted museum funds were transferred to it, including the funds for Dalnavert, the Children's Museum, The Manitoba Museum, the Ukrainian Cultural and Educational Centre, and the Western Canada Aviation Museum, for distribution as grants by Council.The mandate and legal structure of the City of Winnipeg Museums Board can be found here, and feel free to catch-up with our agendas and dispositions.Citizens are free to apply for a position on the City of Winnipeg Museums Board. The Shrine fez bearing the name Khartum, so familiar to many people in Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario today, was relatively unknown until 1905 when Khartum Temple was introduced, established and chartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba, through the efforts of members of the Masonic Order, Scottish and York Rites and the Shrine of North America. Thus, the name 'Khartum', taken from the chief city in Sudan, became Temple No. 95 in the Shrine of North America and the fifth temple to be chartered in Canada.As membership rapidly grew throughout the Shrine of North America, the Imperial Shrine officers recognized that Shriners had to have a mandate that would keep their membership united in a common purpose. Thus, in 1922, was established the Shriners Hospitals for Children, which to this date is known as the 'World's Greatest Philanthropy'. Its mandate was to set up and maintain a network of hospitals for treating children with orthopaedic or burns injuries. In 1923, Khartum Shriners proudly sent their first three patients to the Twin Cities Shrine Hospital for Children for treatment at no cost to the children or their families

Yellowquill College was founded by the Dakota Ojibway Tribal Council in 1984 as a physical manifestation of the belief of “Indian Control of Indian Education”. Those visionary leaders saw that a better future was possible through a First Nation-owned and operated post-secondary institute. On October 1, 1984, the College opened in the newly renovated residential school on Crescent Road West in Portage la Prairie on 45 acres of Long Plain First Nation Land. The opening of a First Nation college provided an alternative for aboriginal adults wanting to pursue their educational goals.

Southeast Resource Development Council Corp. is located at 360 Broadway Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba in the Shawano Wapunong Building. Southeast Resource Development Council Corp. (SERDC)was incorporated and recognized in 1978. It is formal unification of eight (8) member First Nations in the southeastern portion of Manitoba. The Tribal Council is accountable to approximately 12,000 members under the leadership of its eight First Nation Councils. As a political and administrative organization, SERDC is designed and mandated to facilitate the development of local control and responsibility of programs and services to member First Nations by: Providing a mechanism whereby SERDC can develop the administrative and managerial skills necessary to assist each First Nation institute and deliver local services at its own pace and in tune with each First Nation's level of development. Providing a mechanism whereby SERDC can ensure that services are equitably and effectively delivered to each First Nation.

As a painter started twenty-three years ago, I took the Red River Painting and Decorating course, and started on my merry journey figuring I knew everything about my trade.My first job was at Community Painting and Decorating. The first project was exterior, and the boss told me to start painting the garage. At the end of the day my brush had as much paint on the handle as what was in the cutting pot. The brush had even more paint on it the next day, because it was apparent how useless I was. My boss was an expert in the trade, and an expert in giving a frantic verbal whip-lashing training technique. He was the best, and oh how I loved him!The technique was quickly improving, and I was becoming very neat, and clean at the projects. Some of the homes were so beautiful, and there was an extreme caution to be 100% professional in conduct, and in proper trained principles. The last thing I wanted was to buy a rug with my paint on it, worth more than my truck.
