If you're looking for fine dining with great service and a relaxing atmosphere in Toronto, you'll need to look up to the sky and search for Canoe. Food: The menu is simple yet it's high quality and well prepared dishes with great wine and drinks pairing. We decided to go with an app, an entree, and dessert - although the dishes didn't surprise us, they still met our expectations of high quality. The real treats were the Oyster Boy's Finest and Pan Seared Quebec Foie Gras, each being a great start to our meal. Although it was great, it didn't end with a bang. The meal kept its pace right through to dessert. Service: The wait staff were very attentive and accomodating. Our server was attentive to our needs, and was engaged without being too involved in our dining experience. I was impressed by the service from everyone this evening! Atmosphere: I would definitely recommend trying to reserve a table by the window. The place is beautiful with the simple and modern decor, though the view of the city is an added bonus to your meal. It's definitely worth the visit if you're looking to dine in the sky with a great meal, but be prepared to empty out your wallet, because this place isn't cheap. Read more

The kind of spot Marlon Brando or Frank Sinatra might show up for a 'za and a glass of malbec, this hip Annex trattoria is a standout for lots of reasons. Take, for example, the consistently yummy pies that tumble out of its state-of-the-art, imported-from-Italy pizza oven. Or the eight interesting by-the-glass wines (picked at the owner's discretion and subject to seasonal change-ups) that flow from the on-site Enomatic machine. Or the fresh pasta and tomato sauce prepared to exacting standards in the Mercurio kitchen. Or perhaps it's simply Bar Mercurio's comfy atmosphere — intimate enough to be date-worthy but quaint enough to host a solo experience with gusto — and the attentive, personalized service that flourishes within it.
This is a low lit, romantic, swish place. Not too big, and sometimes not too busy due to its location I think. But its a secret that a few people I have met RAVE about. Good italian food is not difficult, it's just about the ingredients and l'amore. These dishes I had were outstanding, and you know that feeling when it surprises you?! I can't wait to go back. My friend ordered the Chicken Tikka, which was a big chicken breast, grilled with Tikka sauce on the side. Different, but good. I had the Ping Gai chicken which was excellent and came with Rice and Salad. Total with 2 beers came to $53. A great deal for pretty good food in an upscale pub atmosphere. Will definitely return.
