WELCOME TOFRIENDS TOGETHER PRESCHOOL INC!Friends Together is a parent-run co-operative pre-school for 3, 4 and 5 year old children (children must be 3 years old by December 31).Friends Together began in 1976, and is a non-profit organization, funded through parents monthly fees and a yearly government grant. The classroom is housed at 830 North Drive in Fort Garry.Each Friends Together class has a high adult to child ratio. Classes of 16 children are supervised by a teacher, a teacher's aide and a parent helper.Friends Together staff hold the required education and many extras, as well as infant and child CPR and First Aid training.The school is licensed by the Manitoba Child Daycare Office. St. Therese Childcare Centre (the Centre) is a daycare that incorporates fun and stimulating activities that enrich a child's learning experiences. The School of Dance, Music and Theatre was established as a project of the India Association of Winnipeg in 1980, with a mandate to promote the East Indian visual and performing arts in Manitoba. In 1983, the institution was independently incorporated as the ''INDIA SCHOOL OF DANCE, MUSIC & THEATRE INC.''. In 1986, the School acquired its own studios/offices at 567 St. Mary's Road (Winnipeg Manitoba). From a small beginning of only 25 students, the School now accommodates well over 150. The school provides instruction in Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Hindustani Vocal Music / Harmonium, Flute, Sitar, Tabla and Carnatic Vocal Music
Diagnostic Learning Centre -
This program provides short-term observation, diagnosis and explicit individual instruction in reading, writing and word study, along with the development of teaching and learning strategies related to Language Arts, organization and independence. These strategies are then presented to each student’s school team for transfer to the classroom setting.
The target group of students is in grades three to six. The program is available to any student in the Winnipeg School Division who is referred by the home school and who meets the admission criteria.
DLC classes are housed at Ashland and Wellington Schools.
During the year there are four sessions of eight weeks each. Students attend either a morning or an afternoon session, spending the rest of the school day in their regular school classrooms.
Programming can be provided in either English or French. French Sessions are offered at Ashland School as needed.
