The Rideau Valley Conservation Authority (RVCA) is an environmental protection and advisory agency that works with local municipalities, government agencies, special interest groups and the general public. RVCA works to protect the health of our watershed and the people who live in it through environmental monitoring and reporting, on-the-ground restoration and stewardship, conservation lands and education, development review and approval and flood forecasting and warning.
Our vision is for a thriving watershed with clean abundant water, natural shorelines, rich forests and wetland, diverse habitat and sustainable land use that is valued and protected by all. Our mission is to understand, manage, protect restore and enhance the Rideau watershed through science, stewardship, education, policy and leadership. Our success is based on local initiative, watershed jurisdiction and partnerships in resource management.
The Résidence Montfort Renaissance in Ottawa helps seniors at high risk to maintain independent living by offering them a 24-hour support service. We provide rooms with complete bathroom and many other services including balanced meal preparation. The residents can also enjoy our little garden.
The Grand Council of the Crees is the political body that represents about 18,000 Crees. We uphold responsibilities in respect to the environment, economic and community development, the Board of Compensation and other matters as decided by the board of directors. We are an elected council of 20 members, who all aim to represent the Cree people. We have offices in the Cree community of Nemaska as well as in Montreal and Ottawa.
