The Firkin Pubs have a commitment to great pub food, friendly service in a cozy atmosphere and the Churchmouse is no exception. Opening in June of 2004 they have established themselves as a leading spot for dinner, lunch, brunch or just a quiet drink. All your pub favorites are available on their large menu including chef's chicken curry, guinness steak and mushroom pie and the home-made burgers! They also have 12 beers on tap with their own Butler's Pale Ale emerging as a top microbrew. The Churchmouse staff will make you feel welcome and 'at home' each visit and you will soon see why their devoted patrons return day after day. The Churchmouse and Firkin also play an important part in the community sponsoring the Toronto gay hockey, baseball and volleyball leagues as well as being an active donor to the local Buddies in Bad Times theatre and the People With Aids foundation. They currently hold the monthly 'leather brunch' and this year were lucky enough to have sponsored the winner
Great food, great prices, great atmosphere (whether inside or on the patio), great service! What more can I say? I love the variety of the daily specials as well. The one problem is the rude, older gentleman server with the goatee-like facial hair. He's rude and sarcastic, but I try to avoid his section! Read more
The food at this Financial District lunch spot stays pretty close to home, celebrating the bounty of southern Ontario with dishes like ricotta gnocchi with forest mushrooms, farmhouse pork sausage and the signature Hawthorne burger. Everyone raves about the French fries, and you do yourself no favours by passing up the flourless chocolate cake. Hawthorne is partnered with the Hospitality Workers Training Centre, meaning the staff here is happy and well supported from on high.

(Harlem on Queen) After a weekend of dining at pretentious good-for-nothing restaurants (re: Spice Route) we decided to settle for Harlem, my bf's idea as the location of this place is easy to miss with so many other eateries surrounding it. We had the brunch/lunch menu. The waitresses were very attentive. Served right away. Food was quite tasty, although the only negative part about it was that it came out a lukewarm. The catfish lafyette was delicious! Yam and yukon hash was good, but would've been better if served hot, as potatoes tend to get rubbery when it gets cold. The ribs were not bad either. There was a lot of food on the menu that I wanted to try today, so I'll definitely go back , maybe during dinner the next time. Read more

Great service. A cute diner atmosphere and there's usually somewhere to sit. Check out their lunch specials for items that aren't on the menu! I used to love going here to grab the paper and do sudoku near the window. Read more

We've been to the Granite Brewery a number of times as the food is always fantastic with generous portions. In addition to the delicious food, they have a good selection of their own brews. We especially enjoyed their Ringwood, a delightful blonde. There are different atmospheres for different tastes, but at the Granite Brewery they have several to choose from. Two excellent patios, a bar, and a family restaurant area, all designed for comfort. The rear patio looks particularly amazing, but as it was raining, we'll just have to wait until next time to try it out. It should also be noted that the Granite Brewery has free parking with easy access. The Granite Brewery gets our highest recommendation and we will be back soon. Read more
