My journey into cake decorating started with my oldest daughter's first birthday cake. I wanted to create something really special to mark her first year so I made a "healthy" carrot cake in the shape of a lady bug. I don't think my daughter even had a bite of it and it was pretty goofy looking but it sure gave me a craving to create more cakes. Each year I would look forward to creating something special for my kid's birthdays. And with each year I would give myself a new challenge and create a cake even better than the last.
Not too long ago I started filling orders and creating fun and amazing cakes for other people. I have found it to be such a thrill to be able to marry my passion for baking with my fine art skills. While I was traditionally trained in printmaking/studio arts at Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, my skills as a baker were acquired while working eight years at Terra Breads in Vancouver.
Kirsten and Keiran met while working in the kitchen at the Opus Hotel, and the rest, they say, is history. Wanting to unite their skills and their love for good food, they opened The Sweet Spot in the fall of 2010. With Keiran's wealth of knowledge on the savoury side and Kirsten's years of experience with pastry, they wanted to create a unique and gourmet shop filled with quality products. Using local and organic ingredients when possible, they put care and pride into everything they do.
THE SWEET SPOT - best quality ingredients, taste - ordered the Black Forest cake for my birthday - Outstanding. The lemon tarts we are so hooked on. Quiche any type is so delicate and yummy. Home made mint choco ice cream - delicious.Read more

Jennifer Bell attended Dubrulle Art Institute in Vancouver and graduated in 2006 with a strong interest in pastry. She headed off to England where she worked in the world of pastries and eventually ended up in the seaside town of Brighton working in a cupcake shop. Having come full circle, she is now home, near the waterfront in Steveston village, and the proud owner of Bell's Bake Shop, which opened in December 2010. Jennifer enjoys the pleasure cupcakes bring to her customers.
I have been coming here for about a year and a half and always stop by when in Fort Langley. The pastry’s are fresh and warmed for you on the spot and the coffee is fresh, smooth and hot. The lines can sometimes be long but the smiley guy behind the counter brings a great energy. Read more
