Cheesecake began with only one recipe. Our Creamy Classic was an old family recipe Darlene doctored up and sold at a restaurant she owned in Portage La Prairie. It actually won first place for taste in the Strawberry Festival dessert contest. (Topped with strawberries, obviously).What sets Double D's Cheesecakes apart from most others is that they are not a baked cheesecake. The cakes are a chilled recipe and result in a very light and creamy texture, not heavy and pasty as baked cheesecakes can be. Customers at Darlene's restaurant used to tell her that after a big meal, they always had room for her cheesecake. They tend to compliment a meal because they are satisfying, not filling.
