The Symphony'S Valued Contribution To The Cultural Community Of Brantford Continued Into The Mid 1930S When The Onset Of The Great Depression Together With Dr. Thomas'S Retirement Saw The Gradual Decline And Eventual Disbanding Of The Orchestra.
I am a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist based in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. My music is based in pop and draws from rock, folk, and jazz. For most of my career, I have been known as a saxophonist.
I has played many genres of music: choirs, guitar rock, funk, rhythm and blues, big band jazz, Latin, classical saxophone, folk, hard-bop, medieval, electroacoustic music, and musical theatre pit orchestras. My career highlights include working for Carnival Cruise Lines and with various tributes to Billy Joel, Elton John, Tina Turner and Bob Seger.
I am continuing to grow, and believe that I have finally found my own style. Using the nylon string guitar as a foundation, I augment live shows with saxophone, flute, and other instruments he plays. I cover a variety of music suitable for easy-listening environments. A recent addition is a drum machine (or live drummer and bassist) for dance sets.
The Peterborough Symphony Orchestra. For over 45 years, a cultural cornerstone of the Peterborough community and a reputation as one of the finest community orchestras in Canada.
Jazz Duo - Karen McCulloch & Jan MenkalLive Music for Special OccasionsWe are a guitars & vocal duo which plays a mix of jazz standards, original material and popular classics for events throughout South Western Ontario. The GEORGIAN SOUND FESTIVAL wrote:''Karens honey voice lends itself beautifully to great vocal classics in the vein of Summertime and Cry Me A River. At times she sounds reminiscent of days of satin gowns, long gloves and smoky lounges. Jan is just as smooth and, like Holgate, has a knack for letting the notes dance around the tune without ever getting carried away.''Our music is well suited for most special occasions like weddings & anniversaries, corporate parties & concerts. We are just as happy to play quiet dinner music as we are performing a concert. We occasionally include fellow musicians for events requiring a larger band.
