The Chinook Regional Library Has Provided Public Library Service To Southwest Saskatchewan Since 1971 Through Its Network Of 32 Branch Libraries And 14 Corner Libraries. The Library Covers An Area Of 49,949 Sq. Km. (19,286 Sq. Miles) And Serves A Population Of 46,184.The Mission Of The Chinook Regional Library Is To Enable Its Local Libraries To Provide Equitable Access To Information For Cultural, Recreational, And Educational Development In The Most Cost Efficient And Cost Effective Manner.
The Village of Tompkins is located on the #1 Trans Canada Highway, just 87km from Cypress Hills Regional Park and South of the Great Sand Hills. Tompkins was named for a C.P.R. contractor from Brockville, Ontario and was incorporated as a Village in 1910.Tompkins had their electrical lighting system and rural telephone system connected in 1916, but it wasn't until 1964 that we enjoyed the conveniences of the water and sewage system. Street paving was completed in 1977.
