In 1919, Bill Schueneman began this family upholstery tradition at Bates Fine Furniture in Kitchener, Ontario, learning and using the finest of the "old craftsmen" techniques. In 1953, his son Gerry began his own business specializing in design work and reupholstery. Gil and Keith represent the third generation of Schuenemans, and have learned the trade in the traditional way, by working with their father. Carrying on the the tradition of excellence and expanding their talents in all aspects of furniture manufacturing reupholstering and restoration.
